Outdoor Activities in Lake Murray Country

Memorial Day is around the corner and the weather has been wonderful!  Here are a few outdoor places that would be great to visit over this holiday weekend.

Adventure Carolina – Guided kayaking and canoeing trips on Columbia’s rivers.  (www.adventurecarolina.com)
Columbia Riverfront Park – For runners, cyclists, walkers and fisherman there is 9 miles of all purpose paths.  Take a walk along the river and enjoy the views.  (www.riveralliance.org)
Congaree National Park – 22,000 acre swampy forest with record sized trees and a riverside boardwalk.  (www.nps.gov/cong)
Dreher Island State Park – Just 30 minutes from downtown Columbia, this park is an island on Lake Murray.  A popular area for boating and fishing.  (www.scstateparks.com)
Saluda Shoals Park – A great place to spend the afternoon.  There are unpaved hiking, biking and horseback riding trails.  (www.icrc.net)
